Do Not Worry About Tomorrow, Because God Is Already There

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
— Matthew 6:34

We spend so much of our lives worrying about tomorrow.

  • Will I have enough?
  • Will things work out?
  • What if I fail?
  • What if life doesn’t go according to plan?

Jesus knew our tendency to worry, which is why He gently reminds us not to carry tomorrow’s burdens before tomorrow arrives.

But there is an even greater reason not to worry: God is already there.

Tomorrow is unknown to us, but it is not unknown to God.

He is already present in the day that is causing you anxiety today.

Before you wake up tomorrow morning, God has already gone before you.

Before the difficult conversation takes place, He is there.

Before the doctor’s report is read, He is there.

Before the interview begins, He is there.

Before the opportunity comes—or the disappointment arrives—He is already there.

Nothing catches Him by surprise.

The God who sees the end from the beginning is not reacting to your future; He is already sovereign over it.

Think about Abraham climbing Mount Moriah. He did not know how God would provide, but when he reached the place of testing, the ram was already waiting.

When the Israelites reached the Red Sea, it looked like there was no way forward. Yet God had already prepared a way through waters that had not yet parted.

When Peter was sent to Cornelius, God had already been working in Cornelius’ heart before Peter ever arrived.

Again and again, Scripture reveals a God who goes before His people.

So why worry about a tomorrow that is already in the hands of the One who holds eternity?

This does not mean life will always be easy. It means you never face tomorrow alone.

The God who sustained you yesterday walks beside you today and waits for you in tomorrow.

So instead of borrowing tomorrow’s worries, borrow God’s promises.

His grace will meet you there.

His peace will guard you there.

His strength will sustain you there.

Because God is already there.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Forgive me for carrying worries You never asked me to bear. Teach me to trust You with my future, knowing that nothing surprises You. Help me to live faithfully today, confident that You have already gone before me into every tomorrow. Fill my heart with Your peace and remind me that wherever I go, You are already there.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
— Deuteronomy 31:8
